Fuili – Thailandia

The climbing sector Thailandia is one of the few hard sectors that can be climbed in any season of the year. As you walk through the gorge you will find Thailandia soon after the sector PederivaFor some reason, Thailandia is the wall on the right, while the one on the left is called Tribuna. You would have thought it was the same sector, but it is not! ????

The main routes in Thailandia climb up a high, overhanging, and very articulated wall. The style varies from difficult slabs to cracks and to long moves on steep overhangs.  The only thing all routes have in common is the complexity of the movements and the great effort they require to be climbed. This is the climbing sector ideal for climbers who are confident on 7 grades and overhang lovers ????????

Further to the left, there are some easier routes as high as 35 meters on a more vertical and articulated wall. Just make sure you have a 70 meters rope!

History

Thailandia was created in 1999 by Roberto Vigiani and Davide della Valle while on holiday in Sardinia. In May 2000 they added routes to both Thailandia and the opposite wall, which they named Tribuna. Pinotti, Lecis, Oviglia, and other climbers added more routes too.

Best Season

The routes in Thailandia have their share of shade in any season, making it possible to climb both in the winter and in the summer. The wall goest in shade at about noon.

Access

You can walk from Cala Gonone, or drive to the end of the road to Cala Fuili. Keep in mind that the local police fines cars that are parked inside the lines of the road. Thus try parking outside the road, and do not try to reach the end of the road as there is no way to reverse.

Once at the bottom of the stairs to the beach turn right and walk through the gorge. After a 10 minutes walk, you shall see the wall of Pederiva on top of a bend to the left. Walk 50 meters to the left and that’s Thailandia
